Text Toolkit

Text Toolkit

A writing studio that runs in your browser: analyse, improve and transform text, and keep named drafts with a version history. No account, no upload, no AI service.

Your text

0 words · 0 characters · about 0 sec to readLoading your drafts

Nothing to analyse yet

Type or paste some text above, drop a .txt or .md file onto the editor, or try one of the samples. Counts, readability, keywords, a summary and a clarity checklist appear here as you write.
Keyboard shortcuts
  • Alt + 1 to 4: switch between Analyse, Improve, Transform and Drafts.
  • Ctrl or Cmd + S: save a version of this draft (the page saves your text by itself as you type).
  • Arrow keys move between the tabs once one is focused.

How it works, honestly: every number comes from published formulas (Flesch, Flesch-Kincaid, Gunning Fog, SMOG, Coleman-Liau, ARI), the RAKE keyword method and TextRank summarising, applied on your device with rule-of-thumb lists for style. Syllables are estimated, passive voice and tone are pattern-based, and none of it understands meaning. Treat results as prompts to reread, not as rules.

Private by design: this runs on your device and nothing you enter is uploaded. What it remembers stays in this browser. See and manage your data.

About Text Toolkit

A private writing studio: readability, keywords, summaries, tracked fixes, headline scoring and saved drafts.

Paste or type text and get counts, reading and speaking time, six readability formulas judged against the reader level you choose, a clarity checklist with the passages highlighted, keywords and key phrases (RAKE), and an extractive summary (TextRank). The Improve tab suggests fixes for long sentences, passive voice, jargon and filler that you accept or ignore one by one, and scores headlines from 0 to 100 with reasons. Transform tools cover find and replace with regex, duplicate and sort lines, extracting emails and dates, and a word-level comparison, and your drafts are saved with a version history. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

What you get

  • Live tool at /play/text-toolkit (free, unlimited use)
  • Commercial license: white-label/embed this tool on your own site

Readability scores are published formulas applied to estimated syllable counts. Passive voice, tone and style suggestions come from patterns and word lists, so they can be wrong in either direction.
